#7 Tips Your Boss Will Absolutely Love

Bismillahirahmanirrahim
Assalammualaikum wbt

Hey readers.
Let’s break down exactly how to reduce your office electricity bill. Keep reading! Don’t forget to show this article to your officemate.
1. Switch to laptops. They use 80% less energy than desktop models so businesses that trade in their desktops for laptops can see huge different in their bill.
2. Set all electronics on sleep modes. Most computers, fax machines and printers now offer ‘power save’ or ‘sleep mode’ settings by which they go into an energy-saving mode after a certain number of idle minutes. The energy-saving mode typically uses at least 70% less energy than full-power mode. Some office electronics now come with ‘power-save’ automatically enabled but some of you may have to set it manually. It’s worth checking all equipment because some of you might want sleep mode to kick in after 15 minutes or less
3. Shut all the computers or any other electronics device at night. It’s not like there’s ‘someone’ doing their work in the office at midnight. Many business owners don’t realize how this effect their bill
4. Most office equipment continues to draw a trickle of electricity from the outlet even when turned off. Consider purchasing power strips and attaching clusters of electronics that can be shut off at once to them. Then at night or when shutting down the office for the day, you just have to flick off the power strip to effectively ‘unplug’ everything at once
5. Consider purchasing a new and small refrigerator instead of big and second-hand refrigerator. I’ve seen plenty of small offices that think they are saving their money by purchasing an old refrigerator but these old models can cost more money than a newer model.  Post-2001 models of the same size cost less than that. Moreover, if you don’t need a big fridge in your office, consider getting a mini-refrigerator which cost less than the big one
6. The federal government is labeling programs to help consumers make energy-wise purchasing decisions. Many type of office electronics from printers to computers to fax machines can carry the Energy Star label which indicates they use at least 20% less energy than the standard model. Moreover, many Energy Star-qualified products automatically go into ‘power-save’ mode after a few minutes which mean it doesn’t need to be manually set
7. If your office is using any water cooler or coffee machine that keep water hot for 24 hours, consider purchasing a plug-in timer that allows you to program when these office mainstays are on and off. You can reduce the usage of electricity by only having the water cooler on when you’re open for business
Pull the plug and you'll feel the smug

#14 Secrets To Reduce Your School Electricity Bill

“Don’t leave the lights/fans on. This is not your father’s school.”
“Did you pay for our school bill?”
Hurm, sounds familiar. I knew you’ve heard this before. I’ve heard this for million times. Why won’t you switch the lights or fans off? Is it really hard to flick the switch? Don’t leave this page until you read these helpful tips!

1. Turn off lights when not in use. Lighting costs nearly 50% of the electric bill in most schools. There’s no reason to leave lights on if a room is empty for more than a minute. It’s not like ‘someone’ is studying in there.
2. Form a student energy patrol to ensure lights are out when rooms are empty like in classrooms, the cafeteria or the auditorium

3. Have students make signs and stickers to remind people to turn off the lights when they leave a room
4. Put light switches where people can find it easily and operate them. Putting the switches in the hidden places doesn’t give you any advantage.
5. Remove unneeded light fixtures near windows especially in unused corners or along banks of windows
6. Use energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs
7. Have students calculate the energy savings achieved by replacing incandescent light bulbs with CFLs and changing incandescent lights in Exit Signs to light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs

8. If your school computers have power-management features, make sure controls are set so they will go into ‘sleep’ mode when not in active use. Screen savers don’t save energy only the sleep mode does

9. Students should turn off monitors that will not be used for the next class periods. All computer equipment should be turned off at the end of the day and on weekends, unless your network technicians specifically instruct otherwise
10. Form a student energy patrol to make sure monitors are off when computers are not in use and to turn computers off at the end of the day
11. Is your school purchasing new equipment? Save 50% on energy costs by using Energy Star computers, monitors, printers and other equipment. Have students calculate potential savings from the use of Energy Star equipment and present the results to school administrator. If your school purchases the equipment, make sure the Energy Star features are enabled.
12. Maintain appliances and replace old appliances
13. Have students use a watt meter to study how much electricity a device uses. This is useful in determining which appliances are out-dated and less efficient
14. Have students conduct a survey of the number of appliances in each classroom and encourage teachers to take away unneeded appliances

Make sure to involve the whole school in achieving a big and great success! Energy savings add up when the entire school joins together in conservation efforts. Schools with effective conservation programs have reported reductions of as much as 25% in utility bills. Publicize energy costs and savings. It lets people know how much it costs to power their school, this will make them see why it’s worth some extra efforts to avoid waste
Waste not. Wanna lot

#9 Things Nobody Tells You About Your Refrigerators And Freezers

1. Adjust the refrigerator temperature settings. Avoid placing your refrigerator on unreasonably low temperature settings. If the temperature control system doesn’t specify degrees, check the manual for corresponding settings
2. Minimize door openings as much as possible. Cool air escapes every time the refrigerator door is opened. This make it works harder to replace the air. Keep the door open no longer than necessary and be sure to close the door completely
3. Allow hot foods to cool before placing them in the refrigerator. Hot food decreases the temperature in the refrigerator temporarily forcing it to work harder to keep the air cool

4. Keep the refrigerator full, a full refrigerator retains cold better than an empty one. If the refrigerator nearly empty, store water-filled containers inside. The mass of cold items will enable the refrigerator to recover more quickly after the door has been opened
5. Do not overfill your refrigerator or freezer since that will interfere with the circulation of cold air inside
6. Turn on the refrigerator’s “energy saver” switch. In damp environment make sure that excess condensation does not form on the inside of the refrigerator. If condensation forms, turn the “energy saver” switch off
7. Keep the refrigerator away from heat sources such as an oven, a stove  and direct sunlight from a window

8. Check the door seals on the refrigerator. A broken seal is the same as leaving the door open. Replace the seals that are torn or partially missing. You can test it by closing the door on a sheet of paper and try to pull it out. It should be hard to pull it out. If it come out easily, you should replace the door seals to prevent cold air from leaking out
9. Avoid blocking the air flow passages to and from the condenser coils, cleaning the condenser will save energy and help the refrigerator to run better and more efficiently. The condenser coils should be cleaned once a year
